10 Tips to Boost Your Android Phone’s Battery Life

The battery … the eternal subject pending smartphones. Screens, high-definition applications, processor power … all components devour energy, even in high-end devices. It is a common problem to have to charge the phone every 24 hours at the most. Today, however, we bring you ten tricks that will help you extend the life of your smartphone.

1. Uses funds according to the screen technology

If your device has an AMOLED screen (like many of those made by Samsung), it uses a dark colored background. AMOLED screens only illuminate the colored pixels. That is, the pixels show the black color when they are off, so a black screen background will only illuminate the icons, which means that a small percentage of the screen is what is actually consuming energy.

2. Beware of Widgets

Many widgets, such as weather or news, require a constant connection to the Internet or Wi-Fi, which will be transmitting data all the time, with the consequent battery consumption that entails.

3. The vibration consumes a lot

Unless you really need it, disable the vibration feature of your smartphone. It really consumes much more battery than a normal tone or that quiet mode. Turn off the Haptic Feedback as well. Although it is more comfortable, it ends up consuming a considerable amount of battery, so consider whether it is necessary to have it activated in applications that can send you notifications constantly, such as WhatsApp or Messenger.

4. Use original batteries

Saving some money with batteries that can potentially damage your device at the end is expensive. Not a good choice. In addition, the original battery is 100% optimized for your terminal, as well as its voltage and capacity. In addition, a non-original battery can explode, and we do not want to.

5. Keep a short waiting period

Set up your smartphone so that the screen on standby is out in no time, which suits you best. But keep in mind that if you set a time too high, at the end of the day you have lost several minutes in which you do not actually use your smartphone. An average user every day looks at his screen about 150 times minimum, it is not difficult to imagine how we could save battery if we put a little attention to this aspect. Many times we look simply to see the time if the terminal is turned off in 10 seconds instead of in 1 minute, we have finished saving 50 seconds each time.

6. Consider using the power saving modes

Many brands, such as Sony or Samsung, include in some of its terminals energy-saving modes that are very useful at times when we do not need to make extensive use of the phone. If your terminal does not have this option, you can always activate airplane mode at times when you are not going to use the phone, like when you are reading or sleeping.

7. Disables features and emoticons

Especially if you have a Samsung or Moto X again. Unless you actually use these functions, they do consume a lot of battery power. Do you really need to pass the hand over the terminal it stops ringing?

8. Beware of the automatic brightness

It may seem useful, but it’s actually a function that sets in much more light than we need. We suggest you adjust it manually and select a medium brightness. You can lift it when you really need more light. In my case, I have it to the minimum in interiors, and when I go outside I change it. I do not take anything from the quick settings in the notification bar.

9. The less connectivity, the better

Turn off GPS, Bluetooth, NFC and WiFi when you do not need them. If you use the smartphone always at home or at work, it is better to have the WiFi active and put it in sleep mode instead of activating and deactivating it every time. Some terminals like the new Motorola have apps designed for it, and if you do not have these apps natively, you can easily find them on Google Play.

10. Update!

Keep your apps up to date. There is a reason why developers update their applications every few months, among other things, because they improve device performance and battery life. Like if you rooted your phone, there are many ROMs which improve this, like having your terminal with a version of Android as modern as possible.
